De-escalating Angry People

This workshop provides a framework for creating an environment that encourages students to remain in control of their behavior, anticipating how behaviors could escalate, and learning helpful strategies and interventions for each stage. The goal is to “nip it in the bud” and keep the student’s behaviors from escalating.  The strategies used for the highest level of escalation are those that one could try if a (known to you) armed student walked into a classroom.
The strategies we use can also help the student gain an internal locus of control, helping the student make better choices during school and independently in the future.

Target audience: administrators, counselors, teachers, all school staff

Administrators and key staff:   Half-day workshop
All staff training portion:   One hour
